This blog that I started in 2020 has become such an amazing outlet for me as I jumped full force into mom life. It has also fostered an incredible community and I could not be more grateful. The decision to start my blog was really a leap of faith. So, why did I start a blog? (And why you may want to start one too.)
First Thoughts of Starting a Blog
To Help Others with Good Information
When I found out I was pregnant, I was so excited but so nervous about making sure I was prepared. I wanted to ensure that I had all I needed for my baby boy but I also wanted to make sure I did not get a bunch of stuff I did not need. I spent evenings and weekends researching baby must-have lists, baby registries, YouTube videos on “Unused things I bought for baby”. I picked out what I thought were the best products for our little one and our lifestyle. My registry was comprehensive but without the fluff. Then once our son was born, I was getting questions from family and friends on my recommended baby products. I found myself typing up lists and descriptions. One friend suggested I start a blog.
What that friend did not know is that I had thought about starting a blog prior to her mentioning it. I had thought about it being a place to build community with other women and moms. A place where I could be open and honest and share my passions: food, family, and fitness.
To Empower Moms
As my son grew and I began to further my virtual fitness coaching business, blogging seemed like the missing piece. While as a new mom, I felt I had no time. I also felt this desire to share my wins and struggles to hopefully empower others to not feel alone. Motherhood, especially the newborn phase (in my opinion), can feel so isolated and lonely at times.
The Blogging Process
Through this process of starting a blog, I have learned so much. If you were with me at the very beginning you know that the blog looked completely different and started out with a single post. Behind the scenes, it is quite a bit of work. I am so grateful that I am not doing this alone. What you may not know is that my mother is also working on this blog with me. She calls herself my Virtual Assistant. She has successfully launched multiple blogs of her own and her knowledge base has been invaluable. It is also amazing to have her keep me accountable and run ideas past her.
Building Community
I know that this blog will continue to evolve and change as my life changes (hello baby #2 coming soon). It brings me such joy to see that community that has been created thus far.
