One of the most frequent questions I get asked is:
How do you stay motivated to continue your at-home fitness routine?”
This question is followed by comments like “You are so consistent. I could never do that.”
First of all, yes you can!
Second, I compiled a few at-home fitness motivation tips and tricks for what keeps me on track and recommendations from a few of the rock stars in our virtual fit club! I work very closely with a number of incredible women and we all plug into our virtual fit gym to help us with accountability in both our nutrition and fitness. This is a community of women who cheer one another on and is a safe space to share our wins and struggles. (more on the Virtual Fit Club HERE.)

My At-Home Fitness Motivation Tips
Write down your goals. What do you want to accomplish? Is it gaining muscle, losing weight, fitting into those pants at the back of your closet? Write them all down. Then recognize that these goals will not be achieved by being perfect with your nutrition and workouts for 1 week. Look at those goals and set “mini-goals”. What are milestones you can hit that are more short-term that will help you continue to push towards those goals? For example, commit to a 3-week program and go all in. Keep your focus on accomplishing that 3-week goal. Once you achieve your mini-goal, set another mini-goal in pursuit of that big beautiful goal. Having these quick wins while on the path to the big goal will continue to help you push forward and before you know it you are in a habit of working out and eating healthy.
Motivation Tips from our Community
Mindy- “Working out at home alone can be hard, but with the Fit gym [our virtual online community], I get excited to check-in and have people cheer me on. There are so many ladies that you can connect and make you feel good.”
Taylor- “I remember how I used to feel physically and mentally before I was introduced to our virtual fit gym. I am able to keep up with my boys all day without feeling sluggish, I feel like I am more empowered as a woman having so many other women stand behind me and support me. These feelings continue to motivate me to show up.”
HeatherLeigh “ I have a secret board on Pinterest of strength goals and motivational quotes, also having a playlist on Spotify that pumps me up, cute workouts clothes for sure help and setting goals then my reward being a new pair of Nike’s.”
Kelsey- “ My motivation really stems and is driven from the ladies in this fit gym! Crushing their goals, defying the limitations that they mentally set for themselves… and then watching them grow. I want to grow as much as I can alongside them.
Listening to the 10x Rule, he said something that really just stuck with me and it’s so true… “success is an accomplished feat. It’s like a breath of air. Although your last breath of air was important, it’s not nearly as important as your next breath” If you stop trying to succeed it like trying to live the rest of your life off the last breath of air. I am obsessed with that next breath. I am motivated for that next breath. I’m excited for all the girls’ next bit of success and that’s what keeps me motivated.
Every day I look forward to that next self-accomplishment… and I look to the side of me to see the other girls locked arms hitting their own successes, witnessing and feeling that sense of success is probably one of the best self-motivators out there.”
These are a few thoughts and best practices from various women who have been consistent in their health and fitness journey. Some of these women have been doing this for 14 years. These tips are great but they mean nothing if you do nothing. Take these, implement them, see change!
